Afford-A-Pro does roofing in Ooltewah for both the newer subdivisions along I-75 and the older farmhouses and rural homes that were here first. We handle shingle and metal roofs, leak repairs, full replacements and free inspections.
Ooltewah is an unincorporated community in Hamilton County, east of Chattanooga and next to Collegedale, stretched along I-75. It has grown fast, and the housing shows it: rows of newer subdivision homes sit not far from farmhouses, brick ranches and rural properties that have stood for decades.
Those two kinds of homes need different things from a roofer. Newer houses usually carry architectural shingles that are still young but can lose tabs in a strong gust or take hail damage in a spring storm. Older homes are more likely to have worn-out shingles, more than one layer of roofing, or decking that has softened along the eaves.
The weather is the same for both. Humid summers bake shingles, spring storm lines roll through the valley with wind and hail, and the occasional ice storm tests every gutter and edge. A good Ooltewah roof has to handle all of it.
Afford-A-Pro operates from Jasper, licensed and insured to perform roofing work in Tennessee. Whether your house went up last year or long ago, the first step is a free inspection and a written estimate with no hidden fees.

Learn More ›Metal is a common upgrade when an Ooltewah homeowner is replacing a roof for the first time. It sheds heavy rain fast, handles summer heat well, and lasts much longer than the shingles most houses started with.
Standing seam, with hidden fasteners and raised seams, gives a modern look on a newer house or a restored farmhouse. Ribbed exposed-fastener panel is a strong, practical fit for barns, equipment sheds and shop buildings on rural acreage, and plenty of homes wear it well too. The options are laid out on our metal roofing page.
In the subdivisions, repair calls tend to follow storms: shingles peeled up along a ridge, granules knocked loose by hail, or a vent boot that has cracked in the heat. On older rural homes, leaks are more often worn flashing at a chimney, an old porch roof tied in poorly, or soft decking at the eaves.
We trace the leak to where it starts, fix that spot properly and look over the rest of the roof while we are up there. When a repair would only buy a short time, we show you the photos and price both options in writing. More on our roof repair page, and we cover the city to the west as well, as described on our Chattanooga page.
Older Ooltewah houses sometimes have a second layer of shingles laid over the first, which hides problems and adds weight. On a replacement, we strip every layer down to the decking, replace boards that have gone soft, and install new underlayment and flashing before the new shingles or metal go on.
Expect one to three days of work on most homes. Ooltewah is unincorporated, so the permit comes from Hamilton County, and we take care of the application and the inspections it requires. Before the crew leaves, the yard and driveway are cleared of nails and scrap. Financing options are available, and the full process is on our roof replacement page.
With so many homes changing hands along the I-75 corridor, an inspection before you buy or sell is a smart step. It also makes sense after hail, or when a newer roof has reached the age where builder-grade shingles start to wear. Ours is free and covers the surface, flashing, vents, gutters and soffits, plus the attic when it is accessible. See what we check on our roof inspection page.
When a spring storm tears shingles off or drops a tree on the house, we tarp the opening or make a temporary repair to stop the water. Then we photograph the damage and give you a written assessment for your insurance company; whether it pays depends on your policy and the cause. We do the same storm work up on Signal Mountain. Read more on our emergency roofing page.
Growth along I-75 has brought retail buildings, offices and warehouses, and many rural properties have metal shop buildings of their own. We install metal panel systems, standing seam and TPO or other low-slope systems, and we handle full re-roofs as well as repairs. Our commercial roofing page explains each system.
We climb up, check for storm damage or age, look in the attic when we can, and photograph what we find.
You receive a written estimate listing tear-off, decking, materials and labor, with financing options if you want them.
We help you choose a shingle line or metal panel and a color that fits the house and any neighborhood rules.
We submit the permit to the office that covers your address and confirm the start date with you.
All old layers come off, damaged decking is replaced, and new underlayment, flashing and roofing are installed.
We inspect the finished roof with you and check the lawn and driveway for any loose nails.

Door knocking after a storm is common, and a free inspection is not a red flag by itself. What matters is who is offering it: ask for the company name, a working phone number and proof of insurance, and do not sign anything on the spot. Afford-A-Pro offers free inspections when you call us, and we are licensed and insured to perform roofing work in Tennessee.
Usually not up front. A metal roof typically costs more to install than an architectural or 3-tab shingle roof on the same house. Metal lasts far longer, though, so over the years you own the home it can work out to a better value. We are happy to price both on your free written estimate so you can compare them side by side.
Start with a free inspection, so you know exactly what is wrong before you spend anything. Many leaks come from one failed spot, like a pipe boot or a strip of flashing, and fixing that is a much smaller job than a new roof. If a full replacement is the right answer, we offer financing options to help spread the cost.
Late spring through fall is the most comfortable stretch, since shingles seal best in warm weather and there are more dry days in a row. Fall is often ideal, after the summer storms and before the cold. Roofs can be replaced in winter on mild, dry days too, and metal is less sensitive to cold than shingles are.
It is worth having one after any hard wind or hail storm, even on a young roof. Newer homes can lose shingles along the ridge and edges in a strong gust, and a missing tab is easy to overlook from the street. If your neighborhood has rules about roofing materials or colors, bring them along when we give you an estimate.
Yes. Older rural homes often have layered roofs, aging decking and porches added on over the years, and we check all of that during the inspection. Ribbed metal panel is a sturdy, practical choice for barns, sheds and shop buildings, and standing seam or shingles work well on the house itself.
